Dennis Koch Obituary

Dennis was invited to worship and praise the Lord in His very presence from now into eternity. The invitation read: “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Dennis entered into rest on February 24, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor, Emporia. He was born March 18, 1947, in Lafe, AR, to Clinton “C.W.” and Minerva (Lohmann) Koch.  Dennis was adopted as a child of God when he was baptized on April 13, 1947 and confirmed his faith on April 23, 1961. Dennis graduated from Monroe City, MO High School in 1965 and continued his education to obtain his Master’s degree in Education. In the beginning of his career, Dennis was a Lutheran School Teacher then was a principal. He retired as the general agent in Kansas for Aid Association for Lutherans.

Dennis and his wife were early members of Risen Savior, a mission start in Wichita where he helped for a time as Director of Christian Outreach. He was a member of Grace Lutheran, Strong City, after their move to Chase County.

On June 22, 1968, Dennis married Linda Sorrell in Sedalia, MO. They shared 55 year of marriage.

Dennis had a contagious smile and a love for visiting with people. He was the first to arrive and often the last to leave an event. His favorite response to “how you doin’ was “kickin’ high!”

Beyond careers, he had a love for the beauty of the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing. Many critters gave him enjoyment – teams of horses, mules or donkeys, feathered friends, hunting dogs and lap dogs.

Dennis is survived by: wife, Linda; children, Lucas Koch and wife Susan all of Cottonwood Falls, Lance Koch of Wichita, Kady Roberts and husband Blake of Celina, TX; grandchildren, Tanner Koch, Laura Koch, Bryson Koch, Christian Koch, Cadence Koch, Carter Roberts, Beckett Roberts, Hudson Roberts; siblings, Neal Koch and wife Pat, Mark Koch and wife Kathy, Donna Meyers and husband Steve; and sister-in-law, Janelle Koch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clemens Koch and Larry Koch.

Cremation will take place. Family will greet friends Friday, March 1, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, Strong City, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Wichita, with Pastor Thomas Harmon officiating. “I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it some day for a crown”.
